1. Not tax, accounting or legal advice

Long form. Mage Accounting is software. Nothing in the app, on this website, in our help text or in our support replies is tax, accounting, legal or other professional advice. Mage Technologies Inc. is a software provider: it is not registered to practise public accountancy, does not render accounting, auditing, bookkeeping or tax services (Republic Act No. 9298, the Philippine Accountancy Act of 2004), and is not an accredited tax agent. For advice on your own situation, consult your certified public accountant, tax agent or lawyer.

Short form (footer, sign-in page). Mage Accounting is software, not an accounting firm. It does not give tax, accounting or legal advice.

2. Not affiliated with or endorsed by BIR

Long form. Mage Accounting is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the Bureau of Internal Revenue. BIR does not accredit or approve accounting software, and nothing on this site or in the app means that BIR has approved Mage Accounting or any form, file or book it produces. References to BIR forms, validators and issuances are for identification only.

Short form (footer). Mage Accounting is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue. BIR does not accredit or approve accounting software.

3. Your books of accounts

Long form. You keep the books of accounts BIR requires, in the form you registered:

  • Manual books. Write each month's entries from Mage into your registered manual books. No further BIR approval is needed for using Mage.
  • Loose-leaf books. Get BIR's Permit to Use loose-leaf books before you print and use them. Print the pages from Mage, number them consecutively for the year with your registered name and TIN on each page, and bind and register the printed pages with BIR within 15 days after the end of each taxable year. No other BIR approval is needed for using Mage.
  • Mage as your computerised books. If you use Mage itself as your computerised books of accounts, file for an Acknowledgment Certificate with your RDO (or through ORUS) before you start (RMO 9-2021). BIR does not accredit software; it acknowledges each taxpayer's own system. Mage supplies the system description and signs the joint sworn statement that your application needs.

Ask your RDO which of these applies to you (RMO 9-2021; RMC 65-2025).

Short form (footer, Settings → books mode). Keep manual books, or loose-leaf books under BIR's Permit to Use (bound within 15 days after year-end). If you use Mage as your computerised books, get an Acknowledgment Certificate from your RDO first (RMO 9-2021).

4. Validate your DAT files

Long form. Mage writes DAT files in BIR's published formats. Before you submit any DAT file, run it through BIR's own validation module (for example, the RELIEF or Alphalist Data Entry and Validation module), as BIR asks of every filer, and correct any errors it reports. Validator results we publish are for our fictional sample company's files only; they say nothing about your files, and they are not a BIR approval or certification.

Short form (DAT download screen). Run this file through BIR's validator before you submit it.

5. You review, sign, file and pay

Long form. Mage prepares returns, certificates and DAT files from what you record. It leaves figures blank where your records cannot supply them. Review every figure, complete what is blank, sign each return and certificate, and file and pay through BIR's channels (eBIRForms, eFPS or the channel BIR prescribes). Marking a return as submitted in Mage does not file it with BIR. Issue signed 2307s to your payees and 2316s to your employees within the periods the rules require.

Short form (return and certificate screens). Review every figure, then sign, file and pay through BIR's channels. Mage does not file for you.

6. Due dates are reminders

Long form. The tax calendar shows the general manual-filing due date for each return Mage supports. A due date that falls on a Saturday or Sunday is moved to the following Monday. The calendar does not account for public holidays, special non-working days, suspensions of work, staggered eFPS group deadlines or extensions, and may not list every return or obligation that applies to you. Your deadlines are set by law and BIR issuances; check BIR's announcements.

Short form (tax calendar). Reminders only. Holidays, eFPS group deadlines and BIR extensions are not included; check BIR's announcements.

7. Official BIR forms

Long form. Mage fills in the official BIR forms as BIR issues them, without changing their layout or content. They are works of the Government of the Philippines (Intellectual Property Code, Section 176.1); Mage claims no rights in them.

8. Statements of account are not invoices

Long form. Statements of account from Mage list what a customer owes you. They are not invoices or official receipts under the Tax Code or RR 7-2024 and must not be issued or used as such.

Short form (printed on each statement). This is a statement of account, not an invoice. THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT VALID FOR CLAIM OF INPUT TAX.

9. Sample company data is fictional

Long form. Banyan Office & Industrial Supply, Inc., its suppliers, customers and employees, and every name, address, TIN and figure shown with the label "Sample company · fictional" are made up for demonstration. Any resemblance to a real person or business, including any TIN that happens to match one BIR has issued, is coincidental.

Short form (footer, existing). Banyan Office & Industrial Supply, Inc., its suppliers and its customers are fictional. Everything labelled "Sample company · fictional" comes from its sample books.

10. Where your data is

Short form (FAQ, footer). Mage runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure and stores data outside the Philippines. See the Privacy Policy and Sub-processors.
